GETTING THE BEST FROM ONE TO ONE MEETINGS WITH TEAM MEMBERS
In my experience getting the best from one to one meetings with different members of your team can be improved with a structured approach that allows for a free flow of ideas , improved engagement and agreed commitment to act.
An example of the process is shown below ( Table 1) and you can agree the specific focus areas set in the context of your team and the challenges faced.
The process covers a wide range of areas and jointly examines where things are going well and not so well and then uses this information to problem solve with the team member and to agree explicit support.
As the meeting progresses next step actions can be captured as shown in Table 2. The Next Steps document can be used to inform the agenda for the next one to one meetingand full team meetings
|Focus area||What is working well?||What is not working so well?||What are your ideas for change?||How can I help?|
|People – team|
|People – other teams|
|People – external suppliers/partners|
