GETTING THE BEST FROM ONE TO ONE MEETINGS WITH TEAM MEMBERS

In my experience getting the best from one to one meetings with different members of your team  can be improved with a structured approach that allows for a free flow of ideas , improved engagement and agreed commitment to act. 

An example of the process is shown below  ( Table 1) and you can agree the specific focus areas set in the  context of your team and the challenges faced.

The process covers a wide range of areas and jointly examines where things are going well and not so well and then uses this information to problem solve with the team member  and  to  agree explicit support.

As the meeting progresses next step actions can be captured as shown in  Table 2. The Next Steps document can be used to inform the agenda for the next one to one meetingand  full team meetings
